Introducing the material

Eucalyptus at its most direct: cool, expansive and intensely alive.

Eucalyptus is one of those smells we think we already know. In the raw material, however, its familiar cooling effect sits inside something much more botanical – fresh leaves, aromatic wood and an almost physical sense of air opening around it.

Tunisia is known for its cineole-rich rosemary essential oil, often powerful, sharp and immediately recognisable. This expression keeps that familiar identity, but takes it in a different direction – fresher, rounder and more nuanced, with the character of the living plant held closer to the finished material.

This material is distilled from wild fresh leaves gathered around Aïn Draham. It is powerful, certainly, but not one-dimensional.

The challenge is finding the plant around the famous freshness.

The opening

Immediate, cool and expansive, with the unmistakable clarity of eucalyptus leaf.

The development

The initial intensity gives way to greener, more leafy and softly woody facets. The material becomes less medicinal and more botanical.

The drydown

Clean, dry and aromatic, with cooling freshness lingering over a quiet woody base.

The material in composition

Freshness with enormous reach.

Eucalyptus can open space inside a composition, sharpen aromatic materials or introduce contrast against warmer woods, resins and florals.

The interesting part is using it beyond its familiar identity. In smaller amounts it becomes less obviously eucalyptus and more about air, clarity and lift.

The origin of the material

Wild eucalyptus from Aïn Draham.

Fresh leaves are harvested wild and taken into distillation without a drying stage.

With a material this immediately recognisable, producing power is not the problem. The plant already has plenty.

The more interesting objective is preserving enough leaf, wood and natural texture around the signature cooling character to make it useful as a perfumery material rather than simply an effect.
